My Review of Tamron SP 28-75mm f/2.8 Di LD-IF AF Zoom Lens for Sony

Tamron SP 28-75mm F2.8 lens

By GEGJr from Indianapolis, IN on 10/30/2014

3out of 5

Pros: Nice Bokeh, Lightweight, Easily Interchangeable

Cons: Soft Focus At F28

Best Uses: OutdoorsDaylight, Studio photography

Describe Yourself: Semi-pro Photographer

I’ve had this lens since it was introduced. Have used it on Konica-Minolta 7D, Sony A700, and Sony A99V. It was excellent lens on both 7D and A700 but have noticed considerable back focus on A99 @ F2.8/75mm. It gets progressively sharper as F stop larger (4.0-8.0). At 8.0 lens is really sharp. To be fair this typical for most lenses. I did AF Micro Adj on A99V and that so far has seemed to fix front focusing. Use lens primarily for studio portrait work which explains why I never noticed back focus before because I typically shoot F8 or F11 in studio and rarely shoot below F4. Didn’t notice back focus problem until went to use at a red carpet event which was in dimly lit hall. I would recommend this lens especially for the price and if your camera has AF Micro Adjustment ability.

Amazon Sells passing of Gray Market goods as USA

I received order 107-6886230-7738657 it was a 70-200mm SP Di USD made for Sony lens purchased from the seller Beach Camera. It should have been a USA lens but instead it was a gray market as if it came from a non-authorized Tamron dealer. Beach Camera insist they do not sell gray market Tamron goods therefore Amazon shipped another sellers product. Amazon of course denies it and states the issue is that Beach Camera sent Amazon a gray market lens. Beach Camera offered to do a 3 way call with me and Amazon but Amazon refused.

Moto is don’t trust Amazon. I know I won’t. And just so you don’t think I am some one time disgruntled customer I have been doing business with Amazon since all they sold was books and records about 1998.

Facebook rant

I was responding to a post about my new FB profile picture. “I was actually setting in the drive through waiting for my prescriptions. That and the fact “prescription” is plural is probably why the scow. I was trying to find something to do & realized I needed a profile pic with my Pacers hat for the #BeatTheHeat series. As I right this it dawns, pun intended, on me that besides occasional face to face interactions with family, since I was unceremoniously forced into retirement FB is my “socialization” outlet. Some might say that’s sad but I chose to be positive, I know not like me (VBG), and say thank goodness for FB. 😊 Hmmm, should have been a blog post.”

My Review of Genus Gen1000 Shooter Equipment Professional Backpack

Genus Gen1000 Backpack

By George E from Indianapolis, IN on 4/26/2014
4out of 5

Pros: Comfortable, Strong Construction, Inexpensive But Not Cheap, Expandable Main Compartme, High Quality Zippers, Roomy, Adjustable Harness

Cons: Heavy, No Telescoping Handle, No wheels

Best Uses: Transporting Gear, Storing Gear, Protecting Gear

Describe Yourself: Semi-pro Photographer

Use this product for trips into parks and locations a backpack with rollers aren’t feasible. It is very sturdy with places of a tripod and monopod on either side. The pack unzips to allow more height for the main compartment and there is a hidden rain cover. Zippers are top notch and almost disappear. The zipper pulls snap together to prevent from being caught and dangling. The zipper pulls are also easy to grab. There is also a flap on backside that can be used to slide it on to handled luggage for carrying through an airport. The backpack straps are hidden behind a flap that zips off completely and can be stored in the main compartment. I gave this bag a 4 because it’s good for what it does especially for the $$. However, I wish it had its own telescoping handle, rollers and a tad lighter like my Lowepro Rolling Computrekker Plus AW. But the Lowepro is considerably more expensive.

Update 3/26/2014

I said I was going to start posting at least once a month. Well, here is the first post. Don’t really have anything to say. Still looking for a part-time or full-time job. In case you are a potential employer I will only work the occasional weekend and will not work nights except for special reasons. I also will not commute so I need to be within 15-20 minutes of my home. I live near the Eagle Creek Dam on Westside of Indianapolis, IN.
